Not all law firms created equal, and even when you have a legal practice that specializes in handling personal injury cases, sometimes the staff at these firms aren’t interested in actually representing the rights of their client, so much as they are at arriving at a quick settlement. This is usually not beneficial to the client since the initial offers that most insurance companies will make will be dramatically lower than what could be realized in a court case, which is one of the reasons why out of court settlements are so popular with insurance companies.
While not an ideal amount for a client, less scrupulous lawyers, taking a cold, hard, look at a constant, reliable source of income find that in many cases, it’s simply easier to play along with insurance companies and provide the kind of bad guidance that can quickly resolve a case with a lower amount of money for the client. More importantly, however, this type of cooperative personal injury lawyer builds a relationship with the insurance companies, which means that they are far more likely to get tips or jobs from these insurance companies to meet yet another client, pretend to act in their interests, and settle out of court for yet another low amount.
