Stay Safe St Pete And Southwest Florida!

With the storm approaching St. Petersburg, the office of Michael Babboni will be closed from Tuesday, October 8th through Thursday, October 10th pending assessment after the storm to ensure the safety of our team and clients. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and provide updates if further closures are necessary. Members of our St Pete office staff have already been deeply affected by Hurricane Helene and we want everyone in Florida to take Hurricane Milton seriously, however remember to slow down and be safe and as patient as possible as while preparing for this powerful storm. While we prioritize safety during the storm, we also want to remind residents of St. Petersburg and surrounding areas to take extra precautions as they prepare for the coming weather.

Be Safe During Storm Preparations

Storms can be stressful, but preparation doesn’t need to be chaotic. Staying calm, patient, and mindful of others while preparing can prevent accidents and ensure you and your loved ones stay safe.

• Drive Carefully: Roads are likely to become congested as people rush to prepare. Give yourself extra time to get around, avoid distractions, and remain cautious in busy parking lots and intersections.
• Stay Patient When Shopping: Store lines may be long, and supplies may run low. It’s important to stay patient with fellow shoppers and staff. Be considerate and focus on gathering essential items for the storm.

Gassing Up Your Vehicle and Handling Fuel Safely

With the storm approaching, gas stations will likely have long lines as residents fill up their vehicles and purchase fuel for generators. Here are a few tips to stay safe:

• Be Patient at Gas Stations: Fuel lines can be frustrating, but remain calm and give yourself plenty of time to fuel up. Follow the guidance of attendants or staff to help avoid unnecessary delays.
• Handle Gasoline with Care: If you’re filling up gas containers for a generator, pump slowly to avoid splashing and overfilling. This will prevent fuel from spilling, which can be hazardous. Always use approved containers and store fuel away from heat sources.

Safe Home Preparation Tips

When preparing your home for the storm, take necessary safety precautions to avoid injuries:
• Be Careful Installing Storm Shutters: Putting up storm shutters requires care, especially when using ladders or handling heavy materials. If you’re not comfortable doing this yourself, don’t hesitate to call a professional for help.
• Trimming Trees Safely: Cutting back tree branches before a storm is important to reduce damage, but it can also be risky. Use the right tools, be mindful of power lines, and always make sure ladders are secure. If in doubt, consider hiring an expert.
