Tampa Crash Kills Brandon Man

Florida roads see a lot of traffic throughout the years. With millions living here and millions more visiting on a regular basis, the state plays host to a huge number of vehicles at any given point. Because of this, most accidents that occur in Florida usually involve more than one vehicle or more than one party. However, as a June 17 accident shows, accidents involving only a single vehicle can be just as dangerous.

The accident involved a 26 year old man from Brandon, Samuel E. Melgar Pineda, and left him dead due to his injuries. At roughly 5:30 PM Pineda was travelling east near Tampa East Boulevard when he lost control of his 1993 Honda Civic and crashed.

The Honda rotated, then slid off the road and directly into a wooden utility pole. Responders took Pineda to Brandon Hospital, but the extent of his injuries were too great and he died due to them while at the hospital.

According to witnesses at the scene, Pineda was driving at least 50 miles per hour and was in the process of accelerating instead of braking when the crash occurred. That high rate of speed could have played a role in the accident and led to the death of the young man.

While there are no other parties involved in this accident, it is important to understand that even in accidents involving a single vehicle that at times, other factors can be to blame for what happened. For example, things like a poor road design with no warning signs about its hazards could be at fault. Or a faulty or defective vehicle part could be to blame. In these cases, it’s very common for class action lawsuits to follow closely behind an accident.

The reason to seek compensation is simple – it’s the only way for those who are impacted by an accident to pick up the pieces of their life and move on. Injuries can lead to heavy hospital bills and medical costs, and a death could bring large funerary costs that the loved ones of the victims will have to somehow pay. Combine this with lost income and it becomes clear that a financial burden is very common following any accident, regardless of how many vehicles are involved.

It isn’t known in the case of Pineda and this most recent accident just what other factors were involved that could have led to his death. The high rate of speed obviously played a role, but if other factors were indeed involved then there is a chance that the family may have a wrongful death lawsuit to pursue.

At any rate, understanding the basics of safe driving is the first step towards protecting yourself on the roads today. If another vehicle had been involved in this accident, the extent of the injuries and damage could have been even higher. Again, determining fault would involve a number of things including speeding, defective vehicles, and much more.

In short, today’s Florida roads are filled with people and while you can take all of the steps possible to drive as safely as you can, there are plenty of risks out there. This latest accident shows that only one vehicle needs to be involved in order for serious injuries to occur, and serves as a warning sign for those travelling within our state.
