Toy Recall Information Of 2017 To Keep Child Safety In Mind

Children will play with just about anything. Usually, when you buy them a toy, they prefer to play with the box that they toy came in instead. Toys are often enjoyed by children, however, some adults find pleasure in them as well. There has already been some toy recalls that have taken place in 2017 that consumers may not be aware of. Personal injuries to children can occur from these recalled toys, so it is of the utmost importance to stay aware of items like these.

2017 Toy Recalls


In January of 2017, Active Kyds issued a recall on children’s toy shovels and garden tool sets. The toy shovels were sold in yellow and black paint which contain excessive levels of lead. The garden tool sets include four pieces: a hand shovel, hand fork, transplanter and cultivator. They have blue handles with orange caps and black painted steel ends. These also contain excessive levels of lead paint. The toys should be taken away immediately and Active Kyds should be contacted for a refund. There have been no incidents reported to the company, and there are a potential 70 units being affected by this recall. The toys were sold exclusively at Amazon.com between August 2016, and October 2016. Lead is toxic if ingested by children and it can cause them to have adverse health effects.

Feld Entertainment issued a recall for light spinner toy wands in February of 2017. These items were sold exclusively at Disney on Ice and Live shows from October 2016 through November 2016. These shows played at a variety of different venues during this time, and for further information, consumers should contact Feld Entertainment. The toys in question have the lot numbers 954544 and 954603 imprinted on the bottom of them. They have a Mickey Mouse or Minnie Mouse character at the top of the wand. The top portion of the wand can become detached, leaving an 8” metal rod exposed. This can pose a danger to your child in many ways. Personal injuries can occur from continued use of the toy.

At the end of February 2017, Moose Toys issued a recall on Little Live Pets Lil Frog plastic toys. Many different retailers sold these toys from August 2016 through February 2017. The two items that are affected are Little Live Pets Lil Frog has SKU: 28217 and Lil Frog Lily Pad has SKU: 28218. It is printed on the lower belly of the frog, near the left thigh. There is also a manufacturer date code located here which ranges between WS112016 to WS123216. The battery’s cap can become a projectile, resulting in your child becoming injured. The battery compartments may also leak posing chemical hazards and injury risks. There are approximately 427,000 potentially affected units. The company has received 17 incident reports of the battery cap becoming a projectile or chemical leaks. On two occasions, they were notified of instances of injuries having to be treated at emergency rooms or a doctor’s office.
