Two People Were Killed, Two Others Injured In Head-On Crash In Pinellas Park On Sunday
According to the report by FHP, the fatal crash began near the intersection of U.S. Highway 19 North and Gateway Center Boulevard as 25-year-old Roberto Rodriguez, was driving a Nissan Rogue heading north on U.S. 19.
At the same time, a red Toyota Rav-4 SUV in the opposite lane was driven by a woman not named in the report with 66-year-old Kim Nguyen traveling as a passenger in the SUV.
At 7:40 P.M., for reasons unknown, Roberto Rodriguez crossed over the median into the southbound lanes and traveled directly into the path of the Toyota SUV. The two SUVs collided head-on.
25-year-old Rodreguez was pronounced deceased by first responders at the scene of the accident. The passenger in the Toyota Toyota Rav-4, was transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased.
The woman driving the Toyota Rav 4 was at the time of the report stated to be in serious condition.
Also hurt in the crash was a man not identified in the report who was driving a Crysler 200. FHP stated that the person sustained only minor injuries.
While the actual cause of the crash is unknown, this terrible accident brings to light the need for drivers to stay alert at all times on the road. Even a quick moment of being distracted can have deadly consequences for yourself and others on the road.
